How each feature works, step by step — and the small quirks that are easier to know than to discover.
Creating and sending an invoice
Build an invoice with line items, tax and a currency, email it to your client with the PDF attached, and move it through draft, sent and paid.
Read the guide →Sending a quote and turning it into an invoice
Build a quote with a "valid until" date, email it to your client, track whether it was accepted or declined, and convert an accepted quote into a draft invoice.
Read the guide →Tracking time and billing it
Run a live timer or log hours by hand against a project, then pull unbilled time straight onto an invoice and export any timesheet to CSV.
Read the guide →Keeping clients organised
Store each client's details, notes and status once, then open a client to see their projects and invoices together in one place.
Read the guide →Organising work into projects
Create fixed, hourly or retainer projects, add out-of-scope charges when work grows, and watch each project's tracked, unbilled and billed totals.
Read the guide →Managing contractors and payouts
Keep contractors, their default rates and their project assignments on file, then record every payout so money out is as visible as money in.
Read the guide →Billing in another currency
Set a home currency for your own reporting, invoice each client in the currency they actually use, and see everything converted at rates refreshed daily.
Read the guide →Recording what a payment really cost
Record what actually landed when an invoice is paid, split the disclosed fee from the margin hidden in the exchange rate, and see which payment route costs you most.
Read the guide →Reading your finance dashboard
Understand the outstanding, overdue, paid and draft totals, see contractor payouts beside your income, and know which number to act on first.
Read the guide →Running more than one business
Create a separate organisation per business, each with its own clients, invoices and branding, and switch between them from one menu without logging out.
Read the guide →Chasing overdue invoices
Turn on automatic weekly reminders for overdue invoices, send a ready-written nudge yourself, and keep a log of everything that has gone out.
Read the guide →Attaching files to your records
Upload contracts, briefs and receipts to any client, project, invoice, quote or contractor, and open them later through a private, short-lived link.
Read the guide →Installing Billable on your phone or computer
Add Billable to your home screen or desktop as an app — its own icon, its own window, instant launch, and it still opens offline.
Read the guide →Setting up push notifications
Choose which devices get a daily digest, pick the hour it arrives, and switch on only the alerts you want — overdue invoices, expiring quotes, forgotten timers.
Read the guide →Branding your documents and securing your account
Add your logo and business details, set a default tax rate and home currency, sign in with a passkey, and know how to leave with your data.
Read the guide →Tracking expenses and receipts
Snap a receipt, log what you spent in any currency, and export a clean summary for your accountant, all without leaving your phone.

Is there a free plan? +
Yes. Billable is free for up to 1 active project on one organisation — build invoices and quotes, track time, manage clients and projects, and download every document as a branded PDF. Emailing documents to clients (invoices, quotes and overdue reminders), running more than 1 active project at once, and multiple organisations come with the flat paid plan.
How much does Billable cost? +
Free up to 1 active project. Past that it's one flat plan at USD 9 per month, billed until you cancel — no seats, no tiers, no add-ons.
How do I cancel? +
