Attaching files to your records

Upload contracts, briefs and receipts to any client, project, invoice, quote or contractor, and open them later through a private, short-lived link.

The signed contract belongs with the project, and the receipt belongs with the invoice. Attachments put the paperwork where the work is instead of leaving it in your inbox.

Step by step

  1. Open the record — Go to the client, project, invoice, quote or contractor the file belongs to.
  2. Upload the file — Attach the contract, brief, receipt or anything else up to 20 MB. Billable keeps the original name, type and size so the list stays easy to scan.
  3. Open or download it later — View a file in a click, or download it under its original name.
  4. Remove what you no longer need — Delete an attachment when it has served its purpose.

Where to attach what

  • Contract — the client, if it covers everything; the project, if it covers one job.
  • Brief or scope — the project, or the quote it justifies.
  • Receipt or proof of payment — the invoice it relates to.
  • Contractor agreement — the contractor’s own record.

Quirks worth knowing

The small things that trip people up.

Almost any record can hold a file

Clients, projects, invoices, quotes and contractors all take attachments, so the file can live exactly where you would go looking for it.

20 MB per file

Each file can be up to 20 MB. A signed PDF contract or a photographed receipt fits comfortably; a raw video does not.

Nothing is on a public URL

Files sit in private storage, and opening or downloading one uses a short-lived secure link rather than an address anyone could share.

The original file name survives

Billable keeps the name, type and size you uploaded, so downloads come back as the file you recognise rather than a string of characters.

Deleting the record deletes its files

Attachments belong to the record they are on. Remove the client or invoice and its documents go too — tidy, but worth knowing before you delete.
