Installing Billable on your phone or computer

Add Billable to your home screen or desktop as an app — its own icon, its own window, instant launch, and it still opens offline.

3 min read

Installed, Billable stops being a browser tab you have to find and becomes an icon you tap. It is a two-minute job on any device.

Step by step

  1. Open Billable in your browser — Any modern browser on a phone, tablet or computer will do.
  2. Install it — On Android, Windows, macOS and Linux, choose “Install”, usually offered in the address bar or the browser menu. On iPhone and iPad, open the share menu and choose “Add to Home Screen”.
  3. Launch it from its own icon — It opens in a clean standalone window with no address bar, alongside your other apps.

What changes once it is installed

  • It launches instantly, because the app is cached on your device.
  • It still opens with no connection.
  • New versions arrive as a prompt you accept when you are ready, not as an interruption.
  • On iPhone and iPad, push notifications become possible.

Quirks worth knowing

The small things that trip people up.

There is no app store involved

Billable is a Progressive Web App. You install it from the browser you already have it open in — nothing to download, nothing to approve.

iPhone and iPad say "Add to Home Screen"

Apple's wording is different from everyone else's. On iOS the option lives in the share menu rather than the address bar.

It opens offline

The app itself is cached on your device, so it launches on patchy signal or none. What it can show you offline is limited to what it has already loaded.

Updates wait for you

A new version never reloads the page under you mid-edit. Billable waits and offers a one-tap "update available" prompt, and you refresh when it suits you.

Installing is what unlocks iPhone notifications

On iOS, push notifications only work for an app that has been added to the Home Screen — so install first if you want your digest on an iPhone.
