What an “organisation” actually is
An organisation is a self-contained business inside your account. Each one keeps its own:
- Clients, projects and contractors — the people and work that belong to that venture
- Invoices and quotes — numbered independently, so each business has its own tidy sequence
- Branding and details — its own logo, business name and address on every document
- Defaults — its own home currency and default tax rate
Nothing crosses over. A client you add to your consulting business never appears when you’re invoicing under your side project, and the totals on each dashboard reflect only that business. When you’re inside an organisation, Billable behaves as if it’s the only one you have.
Switching between them
You don’t log out to move between businesses. Pick the organisation you want from a single menu, and Billable swaps the whole context — clients, invoices, dashboard, branding — in a click. Raise an invoice, and it goes out under the right business, with the right logo and the right numbering, automatically.
That’s the real win: the friction of “which account am I in again?” simply goes away.
